Entry Level Maths

RATIONALE

Entry Level Math’s module provides a strong mathematical foundation for students at Level 2, GCSE equivalent, for admission to the UoS Bachelor programme in Business Management. It encourages students to develop confidence in mathematics by understanding and acquiring basic mathematical concepts. Students will be introduced to a wide range of mathematics sets and will be benefited by reinforcing their basic mathematics skills.

AIMS

The aims of this module are as follows:

1. Introduce students to a wide range of mathematics sets at Level 2

2. Develop students’ mathematics skills

3. Increase students’ confidence in mathematics

4. Reinforce students’ mathematics skills

LEARNING OBJECTIVES AND OUTCOMES

On successful completion of this module, a student will be able to:

1. develop fluent knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical methods and concepts;

2. acquire, select and apply mathematical techniques to solve problems;

3. select and apply appropriate mathematics in everyday situations and contexts from the real world;

4. use mathematics to represent, analyse and interpret information;

5. interpret mathematical results at Level 2;

6. comprehend, interpret and communicate mathematical information in a variety of forms appropriate to the information and context;
